About the event
The Sky's The Limit
October 3rd
10am – 4pm
Cost: $80
Object of the workshop – gaining a better understanding of the importance and benefit of good design, color, edge work and value choices in painting skies.
One day class with demonstrations and class work on all sorts of skies:
· Thunderheads
· Sunsets
· Bright sunlit skies
The class will work from provided reference photographs of different types of skies in landscapes and seascapes to focus on how you can use skies to push depth, drama and interest in scenes with skies. You are encouraged to bring your own printed photos as well. We’ll focus on color choices, value relationships, overall design and perspective tips, use of back-painting (toned grounds) and the importance of edge work in clouds.
Participants should have a basic knowledge of painting and some familiarity with the concept of perspective. All experience levels are welcome.
