Meet the Artists

Donald is a national award-winning artist who paints in oil and occasionally acrylic, creating tonal, impressionistic landscapes, dramatic chiaroscuro still lifes, and storytelling figurative works often inspired by his collections of Native American and Early American artifacts.

Beginning his art career later in life, he studied under admired artists and drew inspiration from the Hudson River School and early Dutch painters. Passionate about both plein air and studio work, Donald enjoys sharing his love of art and encourages others to “Follow Their Bliss,” seeing himself as a coach who helps bring out creativity in others. His work is featured at Helotes Gallery, where he is a founding partner, as well as in Fredericksburg, Texas, and he is an active member of several art organizations including OPA, Coppini Academy, SA Art League and Museum, and AIS.
